Adaptation - English Language Teaching Material and Media

Bahan ajar merupakan salah hal yang terpenting dalam proses belajar mengajar. Bahan ajar merupakan penunjang proses belajar yang bertujuan agar guru mengajar lebih terstruktur dan sesuiai dengan kurikulum selain itu agar peserta didik mendapat pemahan yang lebih baik. Bahan ajaratau materi-materi disediakan oleh guru yang biasanya diambil dari berbagai sumber seperti buku atau pun internet. Materi tersebut haruslah diadaptasi terlebih dahulu. Ada beberapa teknik dalam melakukan adaptasi yaitu, adding (extending/ expanding), deleting (subtracting/ abridging), simplifying, reordering, dan replacing material. Berikut dibawah ini penejelasan mengenai beberapa contoh pengadaptasian materi pembelajaran Speaking, Grammar dan Reading.

Nora  : I’m so excited! We have two weeks off! Wahat are you going to do ?

Lily   : I’m not sure. I guess I’ll just stay at home. Maybe I’ll hang out with some friends and watch my favorite series. What about you ? Any plans ?

Nora  : yeah, I’m going torelax at the beach with my cousin. We’re going to go surfing every day. And my cousin likes to snorkel. So maybe we’ll snorkelling one day.

Lily   : sounds like fun

Nora  : hey, why don’t you come with us ?

Lily   : do you meant it ? I’d love to! I’ll bring my surfboard

Nora  : that’s great! The mere the merrier!

 

 

Adaptation

Nora  : Lily, We have two weeks long holiday! What are you going to do ?

Lily   : I’m not sure. I think i just stay at home. Maybe I will hang out with some friends and watch my favorite series. What about you ? Any plans ?

Dialog speaking diatas saya mengambilnya di buku IC 2. Saya melakukan adaptasi pada dialog tersebut dan menyederhanakan kalimat-kalimat tersebut agar lebih mudah dipahami. selain itu saya juga menghapus kata-kata yang agak sulit kemudain menggantinya dengan kata yang lebih umum.

Pada grammar di atas siswa di tugaskan untuk mengisi bagian yang rumpang dan jawaban nya sudah di sediakan sehingga siswa tinggal memilih jawaban nya saja. . saya mengadaptasi soal ini dari paragraf kemudian di jadikan satu persatu soal agar lebih terstruktur dan rapi sehingga mempermudah siswa dalam menjawabnya.

DINOSAURS

 

Dinosaurs were a type of lizards. They lived from about 230 million to about 65 million years ago. In 1842, Sir Richard Owen created the word dinosaur. It came from Greek words deinos, meaning "terrible" and sauros, meaning "lizard". Dinosaurs lived on earth for about 140 million years.

 

During the dinosaurian era, the days were short. The sun was not as hot as it is today. On earth there was only one big continent and one big ocean. The name of the continent was pangea (all lands) and the name of the ocean was panthallassa (all seas).There were many kinds of dinosaurs. Some of them were very big and some others were small. Some dinosaurs ate leaves and some others ate meat. Some dinosaurs could fly.

 

What happened to dinosaurs? Dinosaurs became extinct because there was a large comet hitting the earth. The comet caused fire and it killed the trees. Dinosaurs could not eat because there were no trees on earth and finally they died and became extinct.

Untuk reading text saya mengambil yang tidak terlalu panjang kemudian mengambil bahasa yang umum dan Saya juga menghapus kalimat-kalimat yang dirasa tidak perlu. Saya juga mengganti beberapa vocabulary yang sulit menjadi vocabulary yang lebih mudah dan lebih umum diketahui untuk siswa . Untuk bagian pertanyaan nya saya memilih objektiv dan pertanyaan nya juga bersifat umum.
